Detail: wallpapered ceiling draws the eye up; pattern meets white tile wainscot cleanly Ceiling close-up: large-scale pattern overhead adding height and drama in a small bathroom

Before: Builder-basic half tile, greige paint, stock mirror/vanity. Clean & contemporary, but flat.
After: Patterned walls including a wallpapered ceiling, soft textiles, and a space that finally feels considered.

Brief: Zero renovation. Keep the existing tile and vanity. Go bold and add function fast.

What Changed — and Why It Works

1) Pattern above the tile line
We treated the top half of the room like a canvas and installed Sabyasachi Persian Sanctuary wallpaper in Ink Blue above the existing white tile. The tile becomes a clean “wainscot” that grounds the pattern and makes maintenance easy. Result: visual height + instant character without demo.

2) Wallpapered ceiling
We wrapped the ceiling in heritage pattern to pull the eye up and turn the small bath into a jewel-box full of drama. It instantly transports you and gives a unexpected high-impact design moment.

3) Soft goods = warmth + acoustics
Two plush bath mats and a small hand towel in solid white add texture, reduce echo, and keep the palette cohesive. Easy to launder, zero commitment.

4) Micro-styling without clutter
A candle & soap/hand cream, and one small art moment near the basin. Walls & surfaces stay clean; the room looks dressed, not busy.

Steal These Moves (Small Bathroom Edition)

  • Add bold wallpaper. In a small bath, a large-scale/heritage print beats tiny patterns. Run it above tile or full-height for instant depth and personality.

  • Wallpaper the ceiling. Treat the fifth wall to draw the eye up and create a jewel-box effect. Balances white tile and delivers drama with zero renovation (removable works for rentals).

  • Keep accessories functional, not fussy. Tray + soap pump, one art moment, lidded bin, and a washable mat. Skip knick-knacks so counters stay clear and there’s less to clean.
